what is the best type of pain relief to have other than gas and air and epidural? ive heard that epidural is fantastic except i know i wouldn’t be able to have it as i have a phobia of injections, i can cope with blood tests during pregnancy but the thought of an injection in my spine makes me feel sick, and i just know that i would jump if they tried to give me an epidural, and i know that’s dangerous as it can paralyze you. whats the next best thing?

Chosen Answer:

I was extremely nervous about getting an epidural with my first child, but I was 7cm dialated and in so much pain that my entire body was shaking uncontrollably! The shaking made me even more nervous becuase they scare you about not moving while you are getting it done, but i’m soooo glad I did!.
With my second child, I got the epidual as soon as I possibly could, I think I was only 2-3 cm dialated, but well worth it! I got to sleep part of the time that I was in labor and I only pushed for about 5 minutes and it was a wonderful experience.
I just found out yesterday that i’m pregnant with baby # 3 and definitely plan on having another epidural! Good luck!
